I’ll come back for you, she’d said her final day here. Even then, he’d known there was something else behind it. She would come back, but perhaps not as Celaena. Would it be to help him, or to kill him?
Imagine if towards the end of the series, all the TOG characters are in this huge battle. Aelin is burning all her enemies around her to ash, blood oozing from cuts on her cheek and arms. She suddenly gets a horrible feeling that something is wrong. For some reason, she looks over to where Dorian is fighting, to see him suddenly severely struck by the enemy. She shouts his name, and Dorian glances over to her as the enemy is about to give the final blow. Their eyes meet, and suddenly, something clicks between them. Aelin erupts into flames and burns all of the enemies around Dorian, lunging for the one standing before him.
Dorian stares at Aelin in amazement, stunned as she slams the enemy to the ground and burns his life away. He had felt something between them too. Aelin turns to Dorian, her heart pounding, her blood singing in her veins. Dorian...the boy who had freed her. The boy who had always been there for her. The boy who had always been her ally, had always been kind to her and had always wanted to protect her. The boy who had always made her laugh and smile. The boy who was the son of her sworn enemy, yet had chosen her over his cruel father. The boy with the sapphire eyes. Dorian...who had always loved her, despite who she was and what she had done. Why hadn't she seen it sooner? Why hadn't she seen HIM sooner?
Dorian...Dorian was her mate. The Crown Prince of Adarlan was her mate. Aelin slowly reaches toward Dorian, and suddenly wraps her arms tightly around him, murmuring his name, that it had always been him. Dorian stands there, stunned. Then he wraps her in his arms and holds her tightly. Just as he had saved her...She had saved him.
